Reactive Hot Melt Polyurethane (PU) Adhesives are renowned for their high-performance bonding. Unlike traditional hot melts, they react and bond with the substrates, offering excellent resistance to heat, chemicals, and moisture. The 1k formulation solely depends on moisture-cured polyurethanes. They contain isocyanate groups that react with environmental moisture, resulting in a bond. These are user-friendly due to their one-component nature, making them ideal for straightforward applications. The curing speed is influenced by ambient moisture, and while they offer robust and durable adhesion, they might not be suitable for all environments or substrates. In contrast, the 2k formulations involve a mix of polyol and isocyanate components. This two-component system is more versatile, allowing for controlled curing rates independent of environmental conditions. It can offer enhanced properties, such as better flexibility and heat resistance, by tweaking the polyol-to-isocyanate ratio. However, it demands precise mixing and application techniques. In essence, the choice between 1k and 2k depends on the application, desired properties, and working conditions.
